Vangel and Rico under Dyna Records Philippines

Remembering more than a decade of music making and music production I accidentally came across a photo album while in the Philippines to see my parents last June 2012.

The Photo album was more than 10 years old and it had all the news paper clippings for our album released in 2001 under Dyna Records Philippines.  The group started as the Firstborn Band and ended with Vangel and Rico for the Philpop music industry.  It took us 9 long years of touring and doing Barangay Concerts before me and partner Rico got 3 offers from Nonoy Tan, Alpha Records and Dyna Records.  The truth was we only had two songs recorded that time when Howard Dy rang and spoke to us… after that we managed to pull off 13 tracks for them to choose from.  This was a masterpiece for me as all the song titles can be made into a single sentence which still relates to the whole album theme and concept.

PANGAKO was the title of the album which mean Promise… and the song titles were … Pangako, Mahal Kita, Dahil Ikaw, ang Panaginip ng Torpe kong puso so, When you remember me, Nandito Lang Ako, at Sana, Ikaw Mahal, Ingatan mo ang Pag-ibig ko…

So, 10 songs which creates a single sentence.

Thanks to Jay Durias of Southborder, Joey Narciso for the guitar lines, Boyet Manahan for producing the album, Boboy and Angee Rozul of Tracks Recording, Howard Dy for believing in us… and lastly to you who’s reading this… thanks.   Watch the video…  below and listen to When you remember me…

Taglish version adapted from Barry Manilow’s If you remember me…
